Your inquiry lacks the following necessary items we need to assist you.

1) Exact OR version

2) A question

3) Steps to reproduce any problem(s)

  1. OR v 3.2.5
  2. what to do to solve the issue I posted, re: permission denied on the sitemap_inc_php file as indicated above. It stops the generation of a sitemap by the script. I tried changing permission on that file itself, did not fix.
  3. I went to the documentation for generating the sitemap in OR, it fails, as described above.

Please provide the exact steps you used to cause the error including the URL you used. Please also paste the entire contents of the error here, your initial post has the contents truncated and what is showing does not contain any kind of a permission issue.

I followed the doc instructions to generate a site map as you instructed:

generate sitemap

It produced the following error: see attached file

Thank you for the link and full error text, specific details are very important.

The problem is that PHP (and thus OR) does not have permission to write/create the sitemap file '/listing/sitemap1.xml' just like it says in the error. If you also examine your server error logs there will be an explicit "permission denied" error in there as well. if your host is not running PHP as SUEXEC that would explain it and you will need to ask them what permissions need to be set so PHP can write to the /listing/ folder in a way that is the most secure for their setup.

You should reset the permissions on 'sitemap.inc.php' to what they were, they were fine before you changed them.

thanks, I have contacted my host.

Do you think that this same php permission issue could explain why I've also been UNable to run a sitemap at the root to include the directory /listing/ or is that still some mystery other issue?

That's a question best put to your host or whoever/whatever is creating your "sitemap". If it needs to write to /listing/ for whatever reason I can only assume its not going to be able to either.

thanks. I already put it to my host and they see no issue on their end that would prevent crawling this directory & including it from root sitemap but nothing I've tried will get that done (so far) but I'll keep trying.

thanks again so much!

progress has been made!

Host opened up /listing/ as you suggested above so OR was able to generate a sitemap within it.

OR sitemap1showing listing ID's, not listing titles.

Still unable to create sitemap at the root to include /listing/

Still unable to create sitemap at the root to include /listing/

OR still has nothing to do with that.

Glad you finally got OR's sitemap feature working.
