problem with post chain from open-realty -> Twitter -> Facebook

There may not be a problem with open-realty,to be honest!!

but wish to start at the source and work out what is problem is happening and help other.

So I have open-realty linked to twitter under the setting and this works find.

I have then used the link between twtter and facebook to link then. This mean that I just have to make a change to open-realty and I get a post on twitter and facebook.

This was working see this link on facebook

https://twitter.com/YellxPV/status/435604270533324800

https://www.facebook.com/YellxPV/posts/817255681621920

So the problem I am having is that post after that are picking up not the image of the property but a logo on the bottom of my page where I have links ( ARLA logo )

But even the post above has not pick the top image. So how are there image pick and what change can I make to my page to make the link app pick the correct image?

OK I figured it out and maybe this could be a Ideas / feature request

This is a article I read http://webgilde.com/en/wrong-image-facebook/

and adding this code to the main.html

  1. <head prefix="og: http://ogp.me/ns# fb: http://ogp.me/ns/fb# website: http://ogp.me/ns/website#">;
  2. <!-- Beginning of - Facebook - Open Graph tags -->
  3. <meta property="fb:admins" content="100005897827912" />
  4. <meta property="og:locale" content="en_GB" />
  5. <meta property="og:site_name" content="{company_name}" />
  6. <meta property="og:url" content="{canonical_link}" />
  7. <!-- this is default - so commented out <meta property="og:type" content="website" />
  8. <meta property="article:publisher" content="https://www.facebook.com/YellxPV"; /> -->
  9. <meta property="og:title" content="{site_title}" />
  10. <meta property="og:description" content="{load_meta_description_raw}" />
  11. <!-- this is only for listing - so commented out <meta property="og:image" content="http://yellx.co.uk/image_X.jpg"; /> -->
  12. <!-- Ending of - Facebook - Open Graph tags -->

plus adding this code to listing_detail_default.html

  1. </body><head prefix="og: http://ogp.me/ns# fb: http://ogp.me/ns/fb# website: http://ogp.me/ns/website#">;
  2. <meta property="og:image" content="{raw_image_full_1}" />
  3. </head>

and to blog_article.html

  1. </body><head prefix="og: http://ogp.me/ns# fb: http://ogp.me/ns/fb# website: http://ogp.me/ns/website#">;
  2. <meta property="og:type" content="article" />
  3. <meta property="article:publisher" content="https://www.facebook.com/YellxPV"; />
  4. <meta property="og:image" content="{raw_blog_author_image_full_1}" />
  5. </head>

This all mean that you are telling facebook this right information for the images aswell as other info.

I an still working to fine tune the code

  5. {meta_canonical_block}<meta property="og:url" content="{canonical_link}" />{/meta_canonical_block}
  6. <meta property="og:title" content="{site_title}" />

If you want I just finished an add-on to change the open graph based on pages or listings.

Also, second add-on with share links for all known social media sites that allow share urls without having to include their javascripts.

Nice work Michael!

Michael this is just what my clients has been asking for! Before I add it can you provide a link of an actual page using it to see what it will look like?

In addition, will this add on just push new listings to Facebook upon import from RETS or is this designed for agents to click a share link and share the listing on their Facebook page?

Debbie,Looks like the meta tag stuff. Pretty neat.

OR has the ability to push listings to Twitter. You could have Twitter push to Facebook I think.

I have FB push to Twitter. I turned off listing alerts, it spams your feed. Share link doesn't seem to be included in this addon, I think it's separate.

Michael, Do you have the share addon handy? Cheers!

Debbie,

Sorry for the delay. No, unfortunately I do not. The client I had been working for years with has moved, at least for now, to WordPress...

Propman,

See attached. Just a simple one... If I can ever find some time I plan to improve on both add-ons

Share button / link. Install the add-on and then go to your social media of choice and enter the url of a listing.

Thanks Michael.

In reading the directions it's kind of vague where to post the {addon_socialshare_link} Do I put it in the Listing template or the Main? If in the main which section.

When I copy and past the url into Facebook it doesn't show a photo of the home, or any image for that matter. When I click the post it does take me to the correct listing which is good, but my client obviously wants the photo of that specific property to also show. Any advice is appreciated!
