turning off errors in local server

I finally installed OR 3.2.4 in my local server.

I am using Debian's testing branch (Wheezy), with PHP 5.4.4

Global settings for error_reporting in php.ini were not working because too many errors were displayed.

I put OR install in a VirtualHost and set php_value display_errors "Off".

Things are OK at the home page but as soon as I attempt to navigate the site I start getting tons of STRICT errors.

I need to see pages without so much clutter.

I do not believe OR v3 has been tested with PHP 5.4 yet. Using a test branch of a server OS to run OR is probably not a good idea, unless you know how to work through the inevitable problems.

I would suggest using PHP v5.3.x

Well, that is the server in my local computer, which I use for testing, so I am aware that the PHP version it uses is a little "bleeding edge".

I don't think any webhost has adopted it yet.

Anyway, I put OR in a VHost in order to tweak PHP settings just for that site, not the global settings.

Still unable to remove those pesky error messages, they clutter the page a lot.

Any ideas?

Yes, use PHP v5.3.x as I already stated. OR is tested with, and works with PHP v5.2.x and v5.3.x

Not possible, I cannot downgrade PHP version on the testing branch and keep updating.

Well, it is possible to hold a package but not worth the trouble.

I guess that I will have to live with the errors, or find a server solution.

Anyway, this is not directly related to OR, so let's leave it there.

Thank you.
