What version of OR are you upgrading from?

Are you attempting to do a one-click upgrade or a manual upgrade? From the message It seems to be a one-click upgrade.

If this is a one-click upgrade, did you first verify your hosting meets the one-click upgrade requirements?

What version of PHP and mySQL is your host using?

I was trying one click from 3.2.9 to 3.2.10. I am on php 5.5 and mySQL is 5.5.49-cll - MySQL Community Server (GPL)

I just went ahead and upgraded manually, but I have had this issue for a few version now and was just curious.

I must assume your server does not support the one-click upgrade since you can upgrade manually.

Details:

http://docs.transparent-tech.com/open-realty/latest/upgradinganexistinginstall.html

However, given the "MySQL server has gone away" message in your error, it could also be that your server has its mysql: 'wait_timeout' throttled or the mySQL server is/was overloaded at the time you attempted this. In either case the DB upgrade is not being allowed to complete because the DB server stops answering. Some hosts intentionally set the wait_timeout to a very low value so they can squeeze more accounts onto the same server, this should be 3600 at a minimum, the default is 28800.

Just for added information. I did a one-click upgrade on my 2 website both on the same server. ( So same config )

One completed with-out error and other come-up with the same Error as above.
