Upgrade problems from v2-v3

I'm in the process of upgrading a clients ORv2 site to a new host and upgrading to V3; we will be purchasing a commercial license once I have it running on my local machine.

The old database for the site was lost - the client didn't backup their database. I am performing an update from the old theme files following this guide:

I created a new blank database for OR to connect to but during install it hangs at this phase:

"Determining old Open-Realty® version"

If I delete the install.php file and try to access the site I get the following error:

Warning: misc::detect_mobile_browser(/include/ failed to open stream: No such file or directory in C:\xampp\sitename\include\ on line 36Fatal error: misc::detect_mobile_browser(): Failed opening required '/include/' (include_path='C:\xampp\php\PEAR') in C:\xampp\sitename\include\ on line 36

Any ideas?

Attempting a fresh install on an other new database with a fresh install of ORv3 (not an upgrade) yields a hang at this point:

We are now going to populate the database.Tables Created

If I examine the database in both cases I find that blank tables have been created. If I delete the install file on the fresh install I also get the error above.

You said the database was lost. If you don't have a populated OR v2.x database there are no DB tables to update, and no need to retain previous common.php settings, so you would just want to upload the new program files, rename: /include/common.php to something else, and re-run the installer. Select the 'new install of OR v3' option.

Assuming you have a compatible hosting environment, that should work get you a working copy of OR, then you can either replace or attempt to convert the old template.

If that does not work, check your server error_log, problems like missing ionCube loaders and fatal errors will be posted there.

Hi, thanks for the reply. When I run an fresh install on a new blank database the installer hangs on:

We are now going to populate the database.

Tables Created.

and it doesn't proceed beyond this, any ideas on whats going on?

As I mentioned previously, any fatal errors halting the installation will be posted in your server error_log.
