What does RETS do for you that IDX doesn't?

I'm considering one or the other and would seriously like to know the pros and cons of each.

David,

RETS is the way to go if you have the choice. With IDX/FTP you have to manually enter all the IDX field name, lengths, etc during setup. With TransparentRETS that information is automatically pulled from the RETS server making for a easier setup process.

Most MLSs have moved to using RETS based data feeds, the old FTP based IDX feeds are slowly disappearing.

Thank you. We've decided to go with RETS. I'm going to be contacting sales on Monday to get set up with hosting and RETS. I have over 100 domains to work with, and I'm just deciding which one will be the first to be hosted.

Another question, and if I should post it elsewhere, let me know and I will:

Does a RETS "download" put the MLS listings into the Open-Realty listings, or will an agent have to enter listing information twice, once for the OR listings in your program, and once for the MLS?

Hi,

Yes the RETS import, pull the listings from the MLS's RETS server and imports them into Open-Realty.
